After graduating from the University of Tokyo's Department of Aerospace Engineering and Graduate School of Engineering with a major in aerospace engineering, Sho Ohtani worked at the Central Research Laboratory of a major electronics manufacturer, an AI startup, and an independent VC before joining JAFCO in December 2024. In the Investment Department, he is mainly engaged in investments in the DeepTech domain and various IT service domains, as well as in post-investment support. He is a member of Japan CTO Association.
I will focus on investing in and supporting the growth of technology startups that play the role of the “first gear,” taking the initial steps toward creating the next core industries. Furthermore, as these businesses advance through the stages of development and shift into the “second,” “third,” and “fourth” gears, I hope to receive the support of external stakeholders. Through these efforts, I aim to fulfill the fundamental mission of a VC, which is to provide risk capital, while striving to achieve the highest fund performance.
